With the spirit of jadeite, we make wines true to nature
In 2012, Fei Tswei Winery took root at the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains in Ningxia. We believe every good wine begins with respect for the land: Across 1,236 mu of vineyards, we tend the vines with care and take a minimal-intervention approach to winemaking, allowing the terroir to speak in the glass. From budburst to aging, we work patiently with nature and bring care to every grape.
Terroir at the Eastern Foothills of the Helan Mountains
At 37°–39°N, the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains receive 2,800–3,000 hours of sunshine and only around 200 mm of rainfall each year. Wide swings between day and night temperatures and irrigation from the Yellow River shape the growing season. In stony, low-fertility soils, vines put down deep roots, producing fruit with concentrated flavor and bright acidity—the foundation of Fei Tswei's wines.
From Land to Glass
The winery makes around 1,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer each year, returning grape pomace and straw to the soil. Every decision in the vineyard aims to carry the character of the land into the wine: the interplay of sun, stone, air and roots finds its way into the wine's layers and finish.
We tend and vinify each plot separately, giving us a richer palette of terroir when blending.
The Gift of Time
A 1,400-square-meter winemaking facility and a 1,700-square-meter underground cellar form the heart of the winery. More than 1,000 oak barrels stand quietly, while over 200,000 bottles mature slowly in the cellar's steady temperature and humidity. Here, time is the only winemaker.
